Changeling by rad-ix Changeling by rad-ix
Can you imagine what it would be like being transported to another world? One of the oldest european folk tales is about suddenly being taken off to the land of fae, sometimes returned, sometimes replaced by imposters known as changelings. It's not altogether clear whether the person who is allowed to return is also a changeling. Whatever the case that other world mysteriously affects those who come into contact with it. I guess the modern equivalent is an encounter with a ufo... or perhaps the strange effect the world has on us when it turns so cold at this time of the year.

Location: In the forest alongside where I live, on part of the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, which has been awarded the most beautiful walking trail in Germany for 2009 (Deutschlands Schönster Wanderweg 2009).

I think there's a certain charm to the old folklore and legends that UFO's of today simply can't match.

at the beggining of the description i was remembering another stuff. Before my dreams came out strange, ultra real and like with a continue story when i was a kid, "the people" took me from my usual dream, travelling over montains with deep green forests, like this, to put me in the other side of the line. Not faeland but dreamland.

Beware the traveler in the Bluebell carpeted forest for he may be pixie-lead to another realm.

I don't know what it is about being in the woods but you do feel like you could be transported somewhere else...

Changeling are interesting. Traditionally the fae would take a healthy human babe and replace it with a changeling, one of their babies that was weak and sickly, often these grew up with unpleasant character too ^^ Adults taken by the Fae, if they able able to escape or be rescued are normally themselves but in quite a number of stories they crumble into dust shortly after returning and this is never explained.

I love the image and your description. I used to go a lot for walking trails like this and stay overnight in a tent! It always changes one in some ways and one still feels this change for a few days after returning to the city.

Awesome, I love this photograph - it is hopefully eerie.

What you describe is also related in Graham Hancock's book called 'Supernatural'.

Oftentimes that changeling would be returned after a few decades have passed in earth time, so the poor person would be lost anyway, even among his own kind.

Cool use of the wide-angle lens; good positioning of the human subject matter, as well. I'm liking the warm toning, too, as it complements the "autumn" feeling.
