Can you imagine what it would be like being transported to another world? One of the oldest european folk tales is about suddenly being taken off to the land of fae, sometimes returned, sometimes replaced by imposters known as changelings. It's not altogether clear whether the person who is allowed to return is also a changeling. Whatever the case that other world mysteriously affects those who come into contact with it. I guess the modern equivalent is an encounter with a ufo... or perhaps the strange effect the world has on us when it turns so cold at this time of the year.

Location: In the forest alongside where I live, on part of the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, which has been awarded the most beautiful walking trail in Germany for 2009 (Deutschlands Schönster Wanderweg 2009).
